The Grascals are the reigning IBMA Entertainers of the Year. Band members are:
Terry Eldredge on lead and harmony vocals and guitar, Jamie Johnson on lead
and harmony vocals and guitar, Jimmy Mattingly on fiddle, Aaron McDaris on
banjo, Danny Roberts on mandolin and Terry Smith on bass and harmony vocals.
They won the 2005 IBMA awards for Emerging Artist of the Year and Song of
the Year, for the Harley Allen-penned "Me and John and Paul."
- Long List of Heartaches was nominated this year for a Grammy(r) for Best Bluegrass
Album. This marks the band's second Grammy(r) nomination-their debut release
was also nominated for Best Bluegrass Album.
- Long List of Heartaches was produced by The Grascals and features guest
performances by George Jones, Dierks Bentley, The Jordanaires and Steve
Wariner.
- The Grascals are nominated for a Dove Award for Bluegrass Recorded Song of the
Year for "Did You Forget God Today," a duet with the Jordanaires on Long List of
Heartaches.
- The band won 2 SPBGMA Bluegrass Awards at the awards show held on February
4--Bluegrass Band of the Year and Instrumental Group of the Year (an award they
won last year). Last year the group also won Album of the Year for their self-titled
debut, Song of the Year for "Me and John and Paul," and Mandolin Performer of
the Year (Danny Roberts).
- The Grascals are featured on "Prodigal Son's Prayer" on Dierks Bentley's current
album, Long Trip Alone. They performed the song with Bentley on The Late, Late
Show with Craig Ferguson on Monday, February 12.
- The Grascals were featured in the ABC Television special, CMA Music Festival:
Country Music's Biggest Party, that aired in August 2005. They performed "Viva Las
Vegas" with Dolly. They also opened Dolly's sold-out concert at Radio City Music
Hall last summer, as well as ten additional dates at the end of her Vintage Tour.
- They opened Brooks & Dunn's sold-out show at New York's Irving Plaza during the
"Country Takes New York" festivities leading up to the 39th Annual CMA Awards in
Nov. 2005. They also opened their New Year's Eve blast at the Gaylord
Entertainment Center.
- Dolly Parton calls their debut CD "one of the greatest albums I've ever listened to."
The Grascals opened her fall arena tour in 2004, performing for over 137,700 fans
during the country tour ranked #10 in 2004.
- Other artists who count themselves as fans of the The Grascals include Joe Nichols,
Dierks Bentley, Bobby Osborne and Earl Scruggs.
